Mark + Alyssa | Engagements {re.edits}

Sooooooooooooo it’s about time I get this absolutely beautiful couple here on my blog!  I had not published all of these photos yet because of the editing style I was using at the time of their session.  It just didn’t flow with what I have now.  I loved going back through and re-editing them….it brought back their lovely session and the beautiful relationship I have watched grow from the beginning.  Alyssa as most of you know was my very first assistant and second shooter.  Her and Mark started dating while me and Alyssa became really close friends.  He immediately swept her off her feet and within weeks everyone around them knew they were just meant to be.  I was honored to be a part of their lives while we all lived their near Chicago.  Mark + Alyssa’s engagement session was themed as a love story because of the obvious love story they truly had.  Mark and Alyssa had known each other since college and it wasn’t until years later, a few broken hearts, and coincidences they were able to cross paths again.  This time…nothing could stop them.

Jessica + Cammie {one adorable pooch}

Well if you are a photographer you know getting a new camera can be exciting and a little nervewracking.  I just purchased a Canon 5D Mark II last month and as excited as I was to try it out at a Jacksonville wedding I was nervous because I received it in the mail days before my trip and hadn’t had time to really test it out.  I put out a casting call for a young adult girl so I could test out my new toy and received an inquiry from Jessica.  We only had a few hours to plan a session, what to wear, location and all that jazz but she came through.  She brought her adorable pup, Cammie to come be in some pictures too….made my day since I’m like the world’s biggest dog lover.  A few days after I got home from Jacksonville I received an email from Jessica telling me how she had recently been through a rough patch in her life and having some new pictures done was just the thing to feel great about herself again.  God sure has amazing timing huh?  So glad to have met you Jessica and Cammie and thank you for being such great models! =)

XO

Eating Clean | a personal post

This last year has been a whirlwind of changes for me.  As a person and a photographer.  I have completely changed my diet and focus this last year, completed several 5Ks and last month, my first 10K.  I have recently started up a personal challenge to begin eating more clean.  Of course, this is a really hard change for anyone.  Recently, I have started added smoothies to my daily diet.  Other than having a refreshing icey drink in the morning, it has really gave me an extra boost of energy.  I am a ridiculously busy person, so having that extra energy has been awesome.  I’ve been asked to  share some of my favorite smoothie recipes so why not take beautiful pictures of them;)  I encourage you to add some fresh fruit or vegetables to your diet…you will be amazed how much better and refreshed you will feel!

Rebekah Hawkins | PhotoChic MUA

So excited to be adding Rebekah to the PhotoChic team!  Rebekah is just one of those girls you are drawn to.  She has a contagious laugh and is a ball to be around.  I met her through a friend of ours when they started dating….I told him right away, you better keep her =)  Now they are planning a wedding and will be living close to us here in the area.  I didn’t want just any make up artist.  Yes, someone who their stuff but someone who is great with people.  When you are getting ready for a photoshoot, nerves set it.   To have someone there who makes you laugh and can connect with you helps big time.   You also want to look your best for the investment you have made and who wants bad pictures of themselves?  Getting your makeup and hair done is such a great addition to a session.  It makes a girl feel pretty, gives her an extra radiance about herself and I can always tell the difference in a session.  When a woman feels beautiful, she will be more natural to smile and show love in photos.  I want that full experience for each girl I photograph.  Rebekah will be working with me for editorials, senior rep sessions, bridals, and any full sessions.  I am really looking forward to working with Rebekah and I can’t wait for you to also!

Hair and Make Up will be included in EVERY full session booked with PhotoChic!

To update my blog we of course had to do a few headshots……pluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus a few fun ones.

WELCOME, REBEKAH!!

O my goodness her EYES and that HAT!! Fabulous!!

Jenah | PhotoChic Session Stylist

Meet Jenah!  I have known Jenah since I was a little girl actually.  I was great friends with her big sister when they lived down the street from me when we were younger.  Sometime last year Jenah started posting her outfits and  styling tips on Facebook and in her circles she soon became the go to girl for fashion.  She started her own blog In my red high heels where she dishes on fashion trends, do’s and dont’s and her personal thoughts.  Jenah is a brilliant writer along with always having informative content on her blog.

Right before I made the move here to South Carolina, Jenah and I started possibly talking about her joining me to style mly clients.  As a photographer there are so many parts of this job, and helping clients wear great clothing for their sessions is really important.  I thought, how awesome would it be for my clients to have the opportunity to work with a personal stylist.   Jenah works with each client on a personal level, getting to know them, and finding the perfect outfit for their shoot.  The awesome thing about this experience is that Jenah gets your measurements, pictures of you, what is in your clothing budget, what styles work for your body type and completely styles and dresses you for your pictures.  I have had nothing but great feedback from each client who has worked with her.  I currently offer Jenah’s services with any of my packages and when I re-launch my highschool senior rep program for 2014 she will be styling each of my reps.  I have really enjoyed working with her and have loved each clients outfits she has helped style.

Tell us a little about yourself….

I have been married for two years to my Andrew.. This past November God gave us the greatest gift we could have, our Little Bear…Every single day I love him more!

I am a shopaholic… No really, I love to shop!  If I do not get out at least once a week to go shopping I get really angry;)

 How did you get started being a stylist?  What started your passion for it?

You know it wasn’t always something that I wanted to do.  I worked for The Limited for a short period and every single day I styled women.  During that time I began to realize how much I really enjoyed showing people how great they could look with the right  clothes.. Over the next year people were inboxing me asking advice about hair, makeup and style….From there I started the blog and the ball keeps rolling… I am super excited!

 Describe your own style…

Hmmmm, wow I have never been asked that. I absolutely love clothes with every bit of my being! I would have to say I am eclectic. I also like to look expensive and it doesn’t matter what I am doing or where I an going I live to dress up:)

 Who do you look to for inspiration?

My hero’s are Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, they not only have a heart for what they do, they are also very good at it!

Tell us a little bit about your blog, In my Red High Heels…

The blog started out as a hobby, I was asked by 4 individuals to start one and so I did… I am learning as I go along, but I love the journey. The newest additions to the blog will be my portfolio, testimonies, and how to contact me…coming soon!

How do you define great styling?

I like the uniqueness about each and every person and I love to see them interpret that quality in their style.

 If you had just one tip for someone wanting to update their look, what would it be?

This is a hard one, trends fade as much as I like them. Stay true to classic style that keeps giving aka the little black dress.

Where do you see your business and blog in the future?  What goals do you have for yourself?

I have big plans for inmyredhighheels. I am close to Chicago and I would love to see my cliental blossom! Personal clients are my main focus. My goals are to watch the business grow by inspiring women with confidence.

 Why the importance of using a stylist for a photoshoot?

Photos are memories that last a lifetime, ever go back and look at a picture and say “Why did I wear that?” While working with me I dig deep to find your likes and interests and to do everything in my power to describe that in the outfits we choose:) Photographs are an opportunity to look stunning and I can and will get you there!

How does hiring you as a stylist work?

Check out my blog and fill out the contact information. I have many different packages from styling for an event, photo shoot, wardrobe styling , closet intervention, etc. You pick what is right for you. From there you fill out an extensive questionnaire and you are on your way to a new you!

 Tell us one thing people may not know about you?

I would love to travel the world and see the different styles with my own eyes.  Gosh, Paris fashion week sounds scrumptious doesn’t it?
